Boise, ID, USA. Basques in Boise celebrated Santa Ageda last Monday, singing on Grove Street and the Basque Block.  The activity gathered some 30 people, with makila or sticks in hand, who started their tour after practicing at the Basque Museum and stopping first at the Leku Ona Bar and Restaurant to the sounds of a trikitixa, accompanied by the voices singing the traditional “Zorion, etxe hontako denoi” (happiness to everyone in this house).

The second stop was inside the Basque Club, and the third was at the Bardenay Brewery.  Itxaso Cayero served as the group’s director and explanations in Basque and English for the spectators were provided by Josh Uriarte.

The event concluded where it began, singing the verse for the last time at the Basque Museum.  After the tour, those attending took advantage of having a trikitixa to continue singing popular songs inside the museum like “Guk Euskaraz,” “Lau Teilatu,” and “Boga Boga.” The weather also cooperated with temperatures not being as cold as they had been.
