The candidate to represent the Basque community in Ayacucho in 2016 is Nicole Liuzzi who has dreams of replacing last year’s queen, Clara Islas, also from the Euskal Odola Basque club,  On this 44th edition of the Calf Festival and Day of the Wanderer in Ayacucho, the local Basque club will participate in the parade with a float in the shape of a huge wine zahato or bota, in the year of the centennial of the traditional Las Tres ZZZ bota company.

Ayacucho, Argentina.   The popular festival will celebrate this year its 44th edition and as every year will gather a large number of artists and spectators to the folkloric showcase to entertain the locals and above all the tourists.  Throughout the week, more than 10,000 people will enjoy the various activities every night.

The 2016 edition of the Calf Festival and Day of the Wanderer in Ayacucho will take place in 2016 from March 6-13.  As part of the program local institutions and national communities are invited to exhibit the work they’ve carried out over the year.

Participation by Euskal Odola

The Basque community will be once again organizer and loyal participant, as they have been over the last years.  One of the most spread activities of the festival is the selection of a queen and the Euskal Odola Basque club has already selected its candidate.  The challenge will be greater for Nicole Liuzzi because it means succeeding Clara Islas, last year's queen who won the election as the Euskal Odola club’s representative.

The official presentation of all the queen candidates at the 44th edition of the festival will take place at the Basque clubhouse on March 4.

The Basque club is also preparing a float to participate in the parade. This year’s theme for the floats is a hard one.  The float will be in the shape of a huge zahato or bota and will travel the streets of the city, in the year that the Navarrese company Las Tres ZZZ celebrates its centennial.  Will they share wine? We’ll see, we´ll keep you updated.
