Organized by Eusketxe in Buenos Aires, the contest is aimed at Basque students of all levels in two categories: short stories and videos of small plays in Basque.  The deadline to submit entries is October 31 and prizes include books in Euskera, certificates and special mentions that will be presented to the winners at the Basque club’s International Euskera Day festivities. 

Buenos Aires, Argentina.   Under the theme “What can I do for Basque?” the Basque Cultural Center in Buenos Aires, Eusketxe, has launched the “Euskaraz beti Aurrera” (Basque always forward) contest.  The contest is aimed at Basque students of all levels who can participate with written text or video.  The contest has two categories: short stories in Basque, up to two pages; and videos and small plays also in Basque no longer than 1:15 minutes.

The jury is comprised of Jon Urdangarin, professor at  Maizpide Barnetegi; Euskera professor at the Eusko Kultur Etxea, Gabriel Arce, Professor Marina Paglialunga, representing teachers in Argentinan Euskaraz, and additional member Maria Elena Etcheverry, Basque teacher at the Eusko Kultur Etxea.  The first three places will receive distinction at the event organized by the Eusketxe to celebrate the International Day of Euskera.  The festivities, TBD, will include a meal and a screening of a film.  Results will be published prior on the club’s blog.

The deadline to submit entries is October 31st and that can be done via email, snail mail or in person.

If sending via email, the participant should generate an email to conceal the author’s data.  Please email all entries to: eusketxe@gmail.com

If using snail mail, please use two envelopes on the interior, one sealed envelope with the story of video, and the other with the personal information of the author, on the exterior of both you should include the name of the work and a pen name for the author.  These can be mailed to: Eusko Kultur Etxea-Casa de la Cultura Vasca, México 1880, 1222 CABA.

For in person deliveries, please do so at the above mentioned address on Thursdays and Friday between 15-20hs.

Euskera Offerings at Eusketxe

In regards to Eusketxe's academic offerings in 2017, they have tried to make schedules available according to the needs of the students and therefore offers courses three hours per week, compacted in one class, morning or afternoon.  For the coming year, the Euskal Etxea plans to keep the same schedule, always adapting it to accommodate students in various levels and with face-to-face classes and video conference options as well.
