Basque night today in Bremen, and on Saturday in Berlin with the presentation of the documentary “Hurrengo geltokia”

This week there will be two activities about the Basque Country and its history in Germany organized by the German capital city's Euskal Etxea.  The first takes place today, in Bremen, with a Basque Night organized with the collaboration of the French Institute.  The second, on Saturday, in Berlin, with the presentation of the documentary Hurrengo geltokia (Next Stop) that includes the historic memory of the Franco years and repression in Legorreta, Gipuzkoa. 

Berlin, Germany.   The Euskal Etxea in Berlin continues its works to disseminate the Basque culture in Germany, with two activities this week in two different cities.  The first is today in Bremen, with the collaboration of the French Institute where they have organized a Basque Night focused on Iparralde.

The evening will begin at 7pm with the documentary by the ARTE channel Das Baskenland in Frankreich (Euskal Herria in France). Afterwards Euskal Etxea members will give a talk in German entitled, “From the Basque Coast to EusaklHerria.  A Quick Trip to the Basque Country through its Language.” After the talk, there will be a tasting of Basque productes like peppers from Ezpeleta and cheeses from Iparralde.

“Next Stop,” Berlin

On Saturday, in Berlin, the Basque club will present the documentary Hurrengo geltokia (Next Stop), at the Lichtblick Kino Theater (Kastanienallee 77).  This film gathers the historic memory of the Franco years and the repression in Legorreta, a small town in Gipuzkoa through interviews with local residents.

The documentary is directed by Iban Zunzunegi, with a script by Ion Diaz and Oroitz Jauregi.  The screening will take place at 6pm, with the presence of the director and some of the people from Legorreta who were interviewed, who will also participate in a  Q&A after the film.
