Basque musicians who are coming to Argentina to perform at Semana Nacional Vasca in San Nicolas will warm up on the weekend before at a concert organized by the Euskaltzaleak Euskaltegi.  The event will take place on Sunday November 5 at 6pm at the Campustellae Cultural Center along with Basques arriving from Euskal Herria Michel Etcheverry, Mikel Urdangarin and Xabaltx who will also perform with Basque-Argentine groups, Zutarriak and De a Dos.

Buenos Aires, Argentina.  Even though the main activity of Euskaltzaleak is Basque language instruction, the Euskaltegi is also a big supporter of various Basque cultural manifestations including music.  This is why, and as a way of introduction to what will be experienced in San Nicolas, the institution has organized a recital by Michel Etcheverry, Mikel Urdangarin and Xabaltx in the capital city.  According to the Euskaltegi, “the artists will pass through Buenos Aires, and it seemed like a great opportunity for the people to start warming up, as well as a good chance for those who won’t be able to travel to Semana Nacional.”

The artists from the Basque Country won’t be the only ones on stage; there will also be artists from the Diaspora, and in this case the quartet Zutarriak, led by Ignacio Esquiroz, and the duo from Arrecifes, De a Dos, Mariana Domine and Anamari Solanes.  “Each group will sing five or six songs, and we also hope that they perform some songs together.  As always, the choir from Euskaltzaleak and our dantzaris will also be present,” they said.

The recital and the Basque songs will be on Sunday, November 5 beginning at 6pm at the Campustellae Cultural Center (Sarandi 1280).  “This is the headquarters of our friends Xeito Novo that always opens his doors for us,” Euskaltzaleak sources told EuskalKultura.com.  Admission is $150, and includes a beverage.  Tickets can be purchased ahead of time and should be done via email: euskaltzaleak@yahoo.com.ar or idiomavasco@gmail.com.
