Chicago, IL. On Wednesday, May 9th a Workshop on Basque Linguists will take place with the participation of Etxepare along with other experts including: Itxaso Rodriguez-Ordoñez (Southern Illinois University Carbondale) and José Ignacio Hualde (University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign), according to the Etxepare Institute.
As the person in charge of this year’s program, Ricardo Etxepare also offered other seminars on May 2nd and on May 7th. On May 2nd, he spoke about linguistic varieties and on May 7th he spoke about syntax and morphology. During his presentations, the expert presented the results of his latest research that revolves around the history of the Basque language and the evolution of its grammar. While in Chicago, he has also met with both undergrad and graduate students to talk about their projects.
The Koldo Mitxelena Chair was founded in 2012, and aims to expand Basque Studies in North America. Part of the Humanities Division at the University of Chicago, it welcomes a renown Basque professor each year to teach seminars and talks on Basque humanistic studies.
