Basque Government Support for researchers at St. Antony’s College at the Oxford University

At as session yesterday of the Government’s council, an order was approved to provide support to researchers and visitors to St. Antony’s College at Oxford University during the 2018-2019 academic year.  This support, 50,036 Euros, is the result of an agreement of collaboration between the Department of Education and Oxford University subscribed to in 2007, to develop the Basque Visiting Fellow Program.

Vitoria-Gasteiz.   According to the Basque Government, the research disciplines eligible for this support at Oxford University include: Politics of Modern History, International Relations, Economics, Social Sciences, Anthropology and International Law.

The duration of the support is for once complete term (three trimesters), however candidates may opt for partial stays of one or two trimesters.

Interested researchers must have a Ph.D. as well as have working knowledge of English that allows them to carry out their work and live in the university community.  Along with the application, they must present their academic and scientific CV, as well as a project of investigation to carry out at St. Antony’s College at Oxford, both written in English.

St. Antony´s College in Oxford

St. Antony’s College at Oxford University is a prestigious center recognized in the area of Social Sciences, especially in regional and international studies of interdisciplinary character.  The presence of a visiting researcher, specialist in themes related to the Basque Country at the Institute of European Studies at St. Antony’s College would contribute in an important way to the development of knowledge about the Basque Country.

The center is the meeting place and intellectual laboratory for researchers interested in European students at Oxford University.  In addition to researchers or fellows at the center, there are also visiting researchers from seven European countries.  One of these is the “Basque Visiting Fellow.” The center also participates in international projects and organizes seminars and work groups inviting distinguished academics in the aforementioned disciplines.

After its approval yesterday by the Government’s Council, the call will be published in the coming days in the Official Bulletin of the Basque Country (EHAA-BOPV).
