Basque festival season continues in full swing in the US, and this weekend the party moves to Reno, Nevada, and Gooding, Idaho. The Reno Zazpiak Bat will kick-off its 49th Basque Festival tomorrow, with celebrations extending to Saturday; the Gooding Basque Association, on the other hand, will hold its Annual Basque Picnic this Sunday.

Reno, USA. Reno's Zazpiak Bat Basque Club is ready to kick-off its 49th Annual Basque Festival tomorrow, with a weekend full of celebrations and activities. The events will begin tomorrow at 7pm at Louis' Basque Corner restaurant.

On Saturday, the feast will take place all day long at Wingfield Park in downtown Reno. Events will begin at 10am, and the program includes activities such as Basque dancing --with Zazpiak Bat dancers and the Irrintzi Dancers, visiting from Winnemucca, NV-- , a Bota contest for the kids, rural sports exhibitions and a Txinga contest open to the public. There will also be live Basque music, with accordion player Mercedes Mendive and a Dance, that will take place from 6-9 pm.

The club will sell tipical Basque food and drinks, along with items from various vendors.

On Sunday, the party will jump to Idaho, with the Gooding Basque Association hosting its Annual Picnic. The event will take place at the local clubhouse. The program begins with a Mass at 11:00 followed by lunch, a dance performance by the Ruby Mountain Basque dancers and other activities.
