“A huge success!” This is how Arantxa Anitua described yesterday.  The president of Laurak Bat added the numbers to the excellent reviews received from participating Basque clubs and companies who participated with stands.  Remember that “Buenos Aires Celebrates,” is a festival supported by the General Directorate of Institutional Relations of the City of Buenos Aires, and held in a strategic public spot: Avenida de Mayo that was transformed into a pedestrian walkway.

Buenos Aires, Argentina. Happy faces, and satisfied customers, emotional images.  The Basque festival experienced yesterday in Buenos Aires did nothing but give a positive impression of the Basque community in Argentina. The event gathered and worked jointly to achieve even a reversal in the bad weather that was forecast.

And numbers, are just numbers, so it's necessary to check the climate of the festival, joy, friendship and work that as experienced on this great day.  So why don’t you take a look and realize by yourself how it was and see that these 30,000 visitors at BAC 2018 converted it into one of the most massive in the festival’s history.

Right after the event concluded, Arantxa Anitua told EuskalKultura.com that she was congratulated by the city government, not only on the attendance, but also on the cultural offerings presented.  She also received greetings from the Federation of Collectivities.  “Every year we surpass our expectations.  We also enjoyed covered from local media like c5n, Cronica and Mitre Radio.  We surpassed everything and can say that it was a complete success!”

As in prior editions, Laurak Bat was accompanied by a large number of clubs in Buenos Aires, as well as others from the interior of the country. Gure Esku Dago, was also present with representatives and provided a taste of what will be experienced in the Basque Country on June 10th with a human chain that they organized as part of the festival.

Among authorities present were from the city government Matias Lopez (Secretary of Citizen Development), Pamela Malewicz (sub-secretary of Human Rights and Cultural Pluralism), Adrian Varela (Director of Collectivities), and Juna Sarrafian (President of the Federation of Collectivities).  In regards to Basque authorities, and as formerly announced, Gorka Alvarez Aranburu Director of the Basque Government’s Basque Communities Abroad was there, along with Delegate of Euskadi Sara Pagola.  The coalition EH Bildu also was represented by Parlementarian, Jasone Agirre Garitaonandia.

In regards to FEVA, a large number of the newly elected board also participated in BAC including Javier Ederra.  This was his first BAC since being elected president of the federation.
