The Askatasunaren Bidea Association in San Miguel in Greather Buenos Aires, will close its 2015 Basque film series showing In 80 Days.  The event will be held tomorrow at 19:00 at the Sarmiento Library.  Looking towards the end of the year, activities will continue until December 5th with a talk and dance show at the Book Night as well as the celebration of the International Day of Euskera. 

San Miguel, Argentina.   The Basque Cultural Association, Askatasunaren Bidea was born “with the goal of diffusing various cultural aspects of the culture and reality of the Basque Country” in the area.  Faithful to this goal, its members carry out activities throughout the year, the majority of these at the Domingo Faustino Sarmiento Public Library in San Miguel.

On its way to ending its 2015 activities program, Askatasunaren Bidea invites the community to participate in its upcoming activities:

Saturday, November 21, 19:00: The seventh and final showing of the 2015 Basque film series.  The title chosen by Carlos Gabilondo is In 80 Days at the Sarmiento Library.

Friday, November 27, 20:00:  Performance by the Ekin Dantzari Taldea (Eusko Kultur Etxea and Ekin Argitaletxea dancers).  The presentation is part of the “Book Night,” that gathers writers, bookstores and libraries for two nights.  Place: Corredor Aerobico (Avenida Francia and Sourdeaux).  Admission is free.

Saturday, November 28, 20:00: Talk by historian, Fabian Zubia Schultheis on “Basque Families at the viceroyalyy period in Buenos Aires (1770-1816).” This is also part of the “Book Night.”  Place: Stand at the Sarmiento Library in the Corredor Aerobico (Avenida Francia and Sourdeaux)

Saturday, December 5, 19:00:  Celebration of the International Day of Euskera (ENE) with the showing of the documentary Bidaia Intimoak (Intimate Trips) by Jon Maia.  21:30 following the documentary dinner to bid farewell to the year.  Place: El Chalet Restaurant, España 786.  Organizers are asking for RSVPs by emailing: askatasunarenbidea@gmail.com.
