The invitation of the Euzko Etxea in Necochea, Argentina through the Hator Hona program is aimed at young Basques -- from the Basque Country, but also, why not, from the US or other countries in the Diaspora -- who want to spend three weeks in Necochea and share their knowledge of the Basque culture, language, music, sports, and gastronomy there.  Hator Hona will take place this year from July 17-August 9 and will include something new: including youth with experience in basketball. Think on it!

Necochea, Argentina.   The Hator Hona program was a success in 2004 when it began and it has continued its success through the years, in number of applications received as well as in the results of the program.  The chain hasn’t been broken since and 2015 program is now accepting applications from Basque youth between the ages of 18-30 who are willing to go to Necochea and share their knowledge of certain aspects of Basque culture.  The deadline to apply is April 30 and the program will take place from July17-August 9, 2015.

Conditions to go to Argentina and take part in the program:

-be between the ages of 18 and 30

-have knowledge of Euskera, Basque music, dancing, food or rural Basque sports to share
-speak at least some basic Spanish to teach and share the subjests

-degrees are not required only experience, knowledge and the desire to share that with others

-participant is responsible for travel costs to Necochea, with the local Basque club taking care of room and board

There is something new this year; youth with experience in basketball are also invited to apply. Necochean Marcial Agostini Zubillaga explains to EuskalKultura.com that “the goals is to incorporate kids in Hator Hona that come from the club’s basketball school, and in this way, even if they don’t participate in the cultural workshops, they will still be in touch with Basque youth from the Basque Country or other areas in the Diaspora.

Basque youth interested in participating should get in touch with the organizers of the Hator Hona program through its blog. News on the project will be published on the blog as well as on its Facebook page: Hator Hona Project.

The invitation includes this promotional video .
