I known him when I was very young in Larrau, one day he told me "You speak kindly from all people around you, that s a great behaviour, As you speak from the Humanity, go as possible in Africa, you will see the Humanity , hearing the Human Message" was one of his message, that I does leaving in Africa, between the true peoples, God bless you Martxel, I will do my best for this loving country, You can trust on me,

Il até Aumonier de la J.E.C à Adzopé (rep.Cote d'Ivoire) dans les annés 1965.je l'ai par la suite croisé à PARIS en 1976 pendant mes ètudes à PARISIX DAUPHINE.Il m'a fait visiter le pays Basque (Bayonne,st Jean-pied-de-port le pic d'Anie avec sa soeur et son mari. le Seigneur l'a accueilli dans son royaume de lumière.

I was fortunate to know this wonderful saintly man. He was kind, gentle, hardworking, determined, patient, loving, and very devout. He had a wonderful sense of humor and he was totally unselfish in his giving of his life to our Lord Jesus Christ, to our Church and to its members. Eskerri Asko, Aita!

It is with great sadness that I just learnd the tragic death of father Tillous. Father Tillous has been my spirituel father since 1979 in the West African country called " the Ivory Coast". Father Tillous helped and guided me into getting in the Roman Catholic Seminary of Bingerville, Ivory Coast. I will always miss father Tillous. May he rest in peace. I will always remember the kindness that Aita showed to all...the willingness to serve the entire Basque community. Personally, I remember him comforting me when he learned of my father's passing just 2 days before my wedding, and how he was again there for Martin and me to concelebrate our wedding mass. He will be greatly missed and forever loved by all with whom he came in contact.

I'm so sorry to learn about the loss of Fr. Tillous; it's a great loss to all of us. I have known him for the last nine years at the Aumonerie Francophone of Los Angels. Father Tillous was always a loving and caring priest with sincere and deep spirituality. Our Aumonerie will miss him. Napoleon Awad

My family will never forget how Aita Martxel jumped in his car in San Francisco in February and traveled for 24 hours straight in a blizzard, and through closed roads, to reach Buffalo for our mother's funeral. When the interstate was closed he slept in his van and never gave up. I'm sure he never realized how much that meant to us all. He was a dear friend and will be greatly missed.

I MET THIS BLESSED MAN AT MY FIRST NABO CONVENTION IN CHINO AUGUST 2008. TO HEAR MASS IN BASQUE BROUGHT ME CLOSER TO MY BASQUE HERITAGE. MY FATHER HAS ALSO PASSED AWAY, I'M SURE THEY ARE PLAYING A GAME OF MUS OR PELOTA TOGETHER NOW. WE MUST CONTINUE THE WORK THE CHAPLAIN STARTED 14 YEARS AGO.
