Basque and Navarran clubs in Argentina also had good reason to celebrate last weekend: on the one hand, San Fermin, that painted the clubs and streets in red and white; on the other, it was the bicentennial of the Declaration of Independence, commemorated on July 9th with community parades and popular festivals.  Some clubs celebrated each separately, and others together.  Here is the first photo gallery of San Fermin 2016.

Buenos Aires, Argentina.   On July 7th all eyes were on Pamplona.  Via the internet everyone followed the Txupinazo and encierros along with all the news of the week from the Navarran capital.  But San Fermin in Argentina wasn’t left behind, and for those who wait all year for it, Basque and Navarran clubs organize activities full of local color.

The majority of the festivities took place last weekend, beginning on July 7th, the night before the Bicentennial of the Declaration of Independence; although some clubs, to avoid overlapping such important dates, decided to postpone their San Fermin celebrations.  This is the case of the Basque community in Concordia, where San Fermin will be celebrated with a wide array of activities including a parade, film, dances, and dinner from July 14-16; in Pergamino, the celebration will also take place on Saturday: in the morning, there will be a txupinazo in the streets of the city; and at night there will be a dinner at the Basque club with the dantzaris from Chacabuco's Guillermo Larregui being invited as guests.

The Navarran club in Bolivar will also celebrate this week.  The program will begin on Thursday with the traditional carneada and will conclude on Sunday with a San Fermin Banquet.  First picture installment:
