The travel agency, Bask in Motion, based in Hernani, proposes a new way to get to know Euskal Herria, with trips organize a la cart and experiences “to feel, smell, touch, and ultimately, feel the heartbeat of the Basque culture.” The first to try it was a group of 21 Basque-Argentines from the Itxaropen Basque Club in Saladillo and Corpus Cristi in Misiones, that between dances, tamborradas, boat trips and much more had a wonderful time.” Do you want to organize your own experience? Donostia-San Sebastian. The travel agency, Bask in Motion, based in the Basque Country, provides travelers a way to get to know and experience Euskal Herria from within, with activities, special visits, organized according to the travelers’ interests. Recently, a group of 21 Basques from Argentina from Basque clubs in Saladillo and Misiones, were in charge of debuting this program, and the result was an unforgettable experience.

“We contacted the Basques in Saladillo through Facebook,” Ander Ugarte, from Bask in Motion, told EuskalKultura.com, and Silvina responded to us. We organized the trip as we talked to her and finally the group from Itxaropen Basque club in Saladillo, was joined by some friends at the Corpus Christi Basque club in Misiones.

At the Fiestas in Legazpi

The group stayed for two very intense weeks. They went to a dance in Aia, where they danced like the locals, to rural sporting exhibitions where many tried chopping logs, to a boat trip for fishing and to see the Basque coast, playing pelota at a fronton, as well as participating in the tamborrada at the festivities in Legazpi!

“We organize the trips a la carte, and we always plan, when possible, to include the festival of some town when given the opportunity,” Ugarte said. “The experience was very powerful, very enriching, for them as well as for us. They told us that they felt like they were in another world, with so much emotion, and feelings….”

Looking for Family Members

Another special characteristic of these trips is the genealogy services that Bask in Motion use to help Basques in the Diaspora visit their roots, the villages they family emigrated from and when possible, meet family members during their visit.
