The Basque culture has been featured in Berlin these days, on the one hand, with a concert by Ruper Ordorika and on the other by celebrating Euskadi Day as part of Berlinale. On Saturday, a large audience was attracted by the music of Ordorika to the MedienGalerie, as part of the event organized by the local Basque club and the Etxepare Basque Institute. Many also attended, and applauded the movie “Mugaritz BSO” that was shown on Monday at Berlin’s Film Festival.

Berlin, Germany.  According to the Etxepare Basque Institute, Ruper Ordorika’s concert on Saturday in Berlin was a huge success.  It exceeded their expectations, attracting an audience of more than 140 people who packed the hall at the MedienGalerie where the concert took place.  Ordorika performed his latest work “Hodein azpian,” as well as playing other well-known songs from his long career.  There were many Basques from Berlin and the surrounding area in the audience, as well as others who came from other parts of Germany, as well as many other Germans who were attracted by the Basque culture and the music of the man from Oñate.  The local Basque club president, Ainhoa Añorga, served as translator explaining the lyrics of different songs.

In addition, Euskadi Day was celebrated on Monday as part of Berlinale, an event to promote culture, gastronomy and Basque products promoted by the Department of Culture and the Etxepare Basque Institute.  One of the high points of the day was the screening of the film “Mugaritz BSO,” a documentary directed by Juantxo Saron and the txalapartari Felipe Ugarte.  The film puts music to the dishes created in Andoni Luis Arduriz’s restaurant which entailed embarking on a journey around the world, looking for the scents and sounds of the recipes created by the Basque chef.
