The day has come and everything is ready at Laurak Bat to celebrate the 140th anniversary of its foundation.  The activities will begin on Monday, with a tribute to club presidents, and will conclude on Sunday with a banquet at the clubhouse.  A full week that includes Buenos Aires Celebrates 2017 and the first visit to the country of the new Director of Basque Communities Abroad, Gorka Alvarez Aranburu. 

Buenos Aires, Argentina.   An extensive and varied program of events begins this Monday and will gather club members and friends, but also a large number of delegations from other Basque clubs, who will travel especially to participate in the anniversary at “Buenos Aires Celebrates.” The list of guests will also include Basque Government representatives that will accompany the eldest club on this special occasion.

The delegation from Euskadi will include Bingen Zupiria, Minister of Culture and Linguistic Policy: Marian Elorza: Secretary General of Foreign Action; Gorka Alvarez Aranburu, Director of the Basque Community Abroad; Sara Pagola, Delegate of the Basque Government in Argentina-Mercosur; and two technitians of the Government.

From Monday through Sunday the range of proposals is broad and includes culture, academic, sports, and recreational activities as well as tributes to the club and its members of all ages.  Following the full program of events:

Monday, March 13

-19:30hs, Aurresku and salute to club presidents.  Cocktail. Place: Euskal Etxea, Avenida Belgrano 1144. 

Wednesday, March 15
-9 -18hs, International Academic Conference: "Migrants, Refugees, Exiles.  Key Economic and Political Perspectives of Human Rights from Past to Present”. Academic day in honor of the 140th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Laurak Bat Basque Club in Buenos Aires. Place: College of Law – University of Buenos Aires, in the Green Room. Thursday, March 16
-9 - 14hs, Seminar “Euskal Herrias Americanas” An approach to the development of the American Basque Association (1876-2017)'. The presence of Argentine and foreign researchers. Place: CONICET, headquarters Volta, Av. Pte. Roque Sáenz Peña 832, 4th floor, Buenos Aires. Organized by: IMHICIHU-CONICET, UNSAM, Institute Etxepare & Laurak Bat. The activity is aimed only at advanced university researchers and students.

-19hs, Pilota matches of 1st category at the Laurak Bat Trinquete, co-organized by the Argentine International Pelota Federation and the International Federation of Basque Pelota.  Disciplines: Goma and Cuero

Friday, March 17
-11hs: Tribute and Recognition by the Senate of the Nation of Argentina to Laurak Bat on its 140th anniversary.  Open to the public. Place: Salón Illia. Palace of the Congress, Rivadavia 1864.
-16 - 18hs: Round table on the “Museum of Basque Immigration” at the Basque Library at Laurak Bat. Including the participation of Miguel Chiloteguy (Deputy Director of the Museum of Galician Immigration), Ruy Farías (CONICET and the Museum of Galician Immigration), Enrique Luco (Member of ICOM, World Council of Museums at UNESCO and Director of the Saavedra Museum), Diego M. Santos (Historian and Curator of the Museum in La Plata and the Museum of Decorative Art) and Pablo Ubierna, José Gabriel Anitua and José Gutiérrez from Laurak Bat.

Saturday, March 18
