Kids all over the US are eager to begin Udaleku 2015 this Sunday, in San Francisco. The Basque Cultural Center will host the NABO summer camp this year, and for the next two weeks these boys and girls will learn more of their Basque heritage through workshops of Euskara, txistu, dance and pilota. Also, they will have a unique chance to meet other young Basque kids from different states, and thus strenghthen the ties among the Basque community. Have fun and ondo ibili!

San Francisco, USA. Udaleku is almost here! This Sunday, the 2015 Udaleku will kick off in San Francisco, California, with "116 kids from all over the United States will descend upon the San Francisco Basque Cultural Center ", as Astero, NABOs news bulletin, reminds us. The SFBCC is hosting this year's camp with Valerie Arrechea acting as director. Udaleku is one of the most important and successful of all NABO initiatives, and has been going strong since 1974.

This summer camp for children between the ages of 10 and 15  will last to two weeks (from June 21st to July 3rd). This year's theme is Iparralde and the program will include dance and culture from the provinces of Lapurdi, Benafarroa and Xiberoa with instructors hailing from both the US and the Basque Country. The kids will learn Euskera, dance, txistu, culture and pilota.

Camp isn't all work however, and the children will be treated to a special day on Saturday with their local host families, followed by an all-day picnic on Angel Island, sponsored by the San Francisco Basque Club on Sunday.

The last day of Udaleku (July 3rd) the children will show off what they have learned with an exhibition open to parents and the local Basque Community, starting at 4pm.
