04/05/2018 - Bakersfield, CA, USA

November 26, 1926 - April 5, 2018

Jeannette Etcheverry passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on April 5, 2018, at the age of 91. Rosary will be recited at 9:30a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10a.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 900 H St., Bakersfield, CA.

Jeannette was born in Banca, France and along with her five siblings, was raised on the family farm-"Machoenia". Like so many Basque immigrants before her, she came to America seeking a new life. Jeannette became a waitress at the Noriega's Restaurant, Ville de Basque and then on to Wool Growers Restaurant where she worked for 37 years. She unwillingly retired at the age of 78 and was grateful for all the lasting friendships and memories she made there through the years.

An extraordinary woman, Jeannette was beloved and respected by all who knew her. Proud of her Basque heritage, she enjoyed sharing memories of the "old country" with her family. Jeannette was especially proud of becoming an American citizen and her lifetime honorary membership in the Kern County Basque Club where she spent many fond occasions filled with laughter amongst friends and relatives. Most important in her life were her devout faith, her children, and the special joy she received from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jeannette is survived by her daughters and son-in laws, Marilyn and David Packer, Linda and Michael Burton, sons John Etcheverry, Mark Etcheverry and daughter-in-law Jennifer, grandchildren Matthew and Michelle Packer, Jennie Klassen and husband Christopher, Mark Andrew Etcheverry and Thomas Lampron, and great-grand children Camryn and Conner Klassen.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the Kern County Basque Club and have a VO-7 to toast to the life of Jeannette-Salute!
