Beatrice (Arrechea) Irigoin
Beatrice (Arrechea) Irigoin

06/11/2017 - Yakima, WA. USA

(1927-2017)

Beatrice passed away and went to join her husband and family into the presence of our lord Jesus. Beatrice is survived by her sisters, Margarite, Mayie, Lena, Regine and by her brother Raymond. She will be remembered by her children, Paul and Debbie, and by her grandchildren, Michael, Sarah and Katherin, and by her numerous friends.

Beatrice was born in La Magdeleine, Donazaharre-St-Jean-Le-Vieux, France and suffered through Nazi occupation from 1940 to 1945. The war interrupted her chance for education never finishing 8th grade. However, she was a highly intelligent woman, speaking fluently English, French, Basque, Spanish, and some Italian, and Portuguese.

She married Michel Irigoin, from the house Legarretania, in Saint Jean-Le-Vieux (Donazaharre in Basque), on September 20, 1950 in their little village chirch in Donazaharre. Shortly after they both immigrated over to the United States, they began working in the restaurant business, owning the Centro Basco hotel/restaurant in Chino, California in the 1950s, and the Pyrenees Lounge, in the 1960s and 1970s. During the latter part of his working life, Michel also worked for the Chino Unified School District.

She was always very active in the church, using her retirement years in service at Holy Family here in Yakima. She was active in various organizations such as Y.L.I., Catholic Daughters of America, Sierra Club, and with the local French club of Yakima.

Always outgoing and smiling, she was a joy to be with. She will be deeply missed by her family and her friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 10:00am at Holy Family Catholic Church located at 5315 Tieton Dr, Yakima, WA 98908 with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
