07/02/2018 - Fruita, CO, USA

October 12, 1950 - July 2, 2018

Antonio "Tony" Celayeta passed away quietly in his home on July 2, 2018.

Tony was born in Sunbilla, Navarra Spain on October 12, 1950, to Martin and Josefa Celayeta.

Tony is survived by his much loved wife, Andrea Celayeta; two adoring children, Adam Celayeta and Alyce Genova, as well as grandson, Antonio "Tony" Genova. Additionally, his siblings, Francisco, Fermin, Tomas, Eusebio, MariPilar, MariSol, and Jose Miguel, and his many nieces and nephews survive him. His parents; older sister, MariCarmen, as well as sister-in-law, Laura, preceded him in death.

Tony came from the Basque region in Spain. He immigrated to the United States in 1968 to join his brothers as sheepherders in Cheyenne, WY. He worked for Warran Livestock for several years before living in Greeley, CO for a short time and ultimately moving to the Grand Valley. There he joined his brother, Tomas, in the natural gas pipelining industry. His job in pipelining took him many places throughout the western states before he and his brother went in business together with their company, TLC Pipeline. After retiring in 2010 Tony bought a small acreage farm and enjoyed tending to it.

Tony leaves behind a legacy of generosity and kindness, he was a light to all who knew him. He treasured his community in Fruita, CO including his many friends, family, and his frequent trips to City Market. Work and family were his primary focuses in life but when he allowed himself a break he loved to play Blackjack whether in Las Vegas or Blackhawk. His absence will be widely felt.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. at St Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at New Elmwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to National Jewish Health, 1400 Jackson Street, Denver, CO 80206.
