Aintzane Agirre, eldest daughter of the first Lehendakari, Jose Antonio Agirre. and his wife, Maria Zabala, died on Friday, February 16 in Bilbao. Agirre, 82, was the last of the three sons and daughters still alive of Lehendakari Agirre.

Aintzane Agirre grew up conditioned by the exile of her parents, and was educated and lived in the United States and Paris, among other places.

The 15 years of work prior to her retirement in 2004 took place in the Directorate of Relations with Basque Communities Abroad (current Directorate for the Basque Community Abroad) of the Basque Government.

The funeral in her memory will be next Monday, February 19, at 7:30 p.m., in the Parish of St Ignatius of Loyola in Algorta (Getxo), Bizkaia.
